Whitburn Band has finished in 6th place at the recent National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.
The West Lothian outfit, playing off a number five draw, were conducted by Michael Fowles at the competition, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
All of the bands at the contest performed the set work Gallery by Howard Snell.
The result is a very significant one for Whitburn. It is the first time in the band’s history that it has been placed at both the British Open and National Championships – the two traditional ‘majors’ – in the same year.
Next up for Whitburn is the Scottish Open, where the band will seek to win the competition for the fourth consecutive year.
