Updated: Jul 12, 2024

Whitburn Band is delighted to announce the signing of Cameron Shanks on percussion.

Cameron, who is also a member of Bellshill Salvation Army Band and the Household Troops Band of the Salvation Army, joins Whitburn from the cooperation band.

Cameron’s banding career started at the age of seven on tenor horn in the Salvation Army, before he moved on to percussion.

He played with Langholm Town Band and Unison Kinneil before joining the cooperation band.

Cameron joins Whitburn with experience of performing at the British Open, Nationals and Europeans. His brother Chris (Principal Euphonium) is also at Whitburn.

Cameron said: “I’m delighted to have joined Whitburn, and look forward to working with the band and everything that we have planned in the coming year.”

Charlie Farren, Whitburn Band Chairman, added: “We are delighted that Cameron has joined the band. He comes with great experience, and he will be a great addition to our percussion team.”
